Nature never created a sandwich, but, it does produce raw fruits, vegetables and nuts, which is our natural biological diet. So sorry sandwich lovers, but this delectable looking sandwich is off limits for the gut! According to the latest government analysis, we're all eating too much salt and our lovely midday sandwiches are the culprits. Unfortunately, sandwiches account for 20 percent of a typical day's sodium intake. This news isn't so surprising when one considers that bread and deli meats are two of the biggest sources of sodium in the U.S. diet.

Salt isn't the only reason

First You should never eat protein and carbohydrates together. When you eat the wrong foods together, digestion is impaired. As a result, undigested food is left in your stomach and it rots or ferments. What happens when you have fermentation in the stomach? If food stays in your stomach too long and ferments, which can lead to the growth of bacteria. Food hardens into a solid lump called a bezoar,- this is a solid mass of indigestible material that accumulates in your digestive tract, sometimes causing a blockage. Bezoars usually form in the stomach, sometimes in the small intestine or, rarely, the large intestine. Combing Protein's and Carbohydrates will Impair your digestive system which can lead to Irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease & other debilitating digestive diseases.

What about the meat

So why shouldn't I consume a sandwich that contains processed meat? First lets examine what is processed meats. Processed meats are meats that have been preserved by smoking or salting, curing or adding chemical preservatives. They include deli meats, bacon and hot dogs. Eating processed meats can increase your cancer risk. Even though processed meats are convenient, affordable and woven into our collective diet, it's best to avoid them. All around the world, a turkey sandwich is often a lunchtime fixture, while bacon is a prized breakfast treat and cookouts wouldn't be the same without hot dogs on the grill! Unfortunately, when these processed meats are preserved, cancer-causing substances form.

“Research shows that eating processed meats like bacon and cold cuts can increase your chances for stomach and colorectal cancer,” says Lindsey Wohlford, employee wellness dietitian at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Tips to avoid processed meat

If processed meat products are part of your diet, you can take steps to reduce or eliminate them.

Read the label. Check the ingredient list for words like nitrate, nitrite, cured or salted. If you spot these words, it’s a processed meat and should be avoided.Be an educated buyer. Even meats labeled “uncured” still can have nitrates and nitrites in them.  Skip nitrate-free meats. These meats may have less nitrates and nitrites. But, they’re not nitrate-free. When you eat these foods labeled nitrate-free, your stomach actually turns some nitrates into nitrites. And some of these nitrites can then form cancer-causing substances in your body.Reduce portion sizes of processed meats and eat less frequently. Choose a plant-based diet most often and have some meatless days.
